Blue Ribbon Formal Recognition
On Nov. 10 and 11, Notre Dame Elementary School was formally recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in Washington, D.C. NDES Principal Barbara Doering and Assistant Principal Jenny Massiello graciously accepted the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence plaque and flag.
Upon returning from Washington, D.C., NDES held a pep rally to present the award to the school and to celebrate the special honor.
The National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence is the highest award that a school can receive in the country and acknowledges NDES as an Exemplary High Performing school, performing in the top 15 percent of the nation in both math and reading. Each year, 0.1 percent or less of private/Catholic schools have an opportunity to apply for and receive the Blue Ribbon Award. A maximum of 50 private/Catholic schools in the country receive the Blue Ribbon Award each year. In 32 years, less than 3 percent of all 31,000 private/Catholic schools in the country have received the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award.
