Memorial Scholarship Fund
In memory of Colin Boland, his parents John and Kelly Boland, of Munson, offer assistance to two families each year with a scholarship to Notre Dame Elementary School where Colin was a student when he passed away in October 2010.

State of the Union Geauga County
A 90-minute panel discussion sponsored by the Geauga Growth Partnership will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Notre Dame Provincial Center, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson.
The discussion will feature state Sen. John Eklund and directors of other Geauga County agencies, and will be moderated by John Karlovec, Karlovec Media Group.
The event is free and open to the public.
With the Arts
The Geauga Council for Arts and Culture (GCAC) will meet from 4-5 p.m. Dec. 4 at Beans Coffee Shop in Chardon for a book discussion on “Unbroken” by Lauren Hillenbrand. Although one may not have the opportunity to read it before the meeting, everyone is welcome to attend.

Breakfast with Santa
Munson Township’s annual Breakfast with Santa will be held at the township hall Dec. 6. Munson’s Boy Scout Troop 91 will serve pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.
Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children 4 to 12 and free for under 3.
Reservations are requested by acquiring a sign-up form at munsontwp.com or at the office, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Good Tiding Benefit Choir
The Good Tidings Benefit Choir will perform its annual Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 and 3 p.m. Dec. 7 at Notre Provincial Chapel, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson. The concert features traditional Christmas music, including Handel’s Messiah.
The Pilgrim Brass and Southern Gospel Group will join on both days, and Sunday’s concert will include the string group Sounds of Little River.
The event is free, but goodwill donations will be accepted. Proceeds benefit the seven food pantries operated by the Geauga Hunger Task Force in Geauga County.
Free Sunday Dinner
St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road in Munson, offers a free Sunday dinner Dec. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Room. There will be a choice of soups, breads, desserts and more.
Donations are not necessary, but will be appreciated. To help prepare or serve the dinner, or for more information, call 440-285-4641
Friends of WomenSafe Christmas Tea
The Friends of WomenSafe will host a Christmas tea Dec. 14, from 1-4 p.m. at the Red Maple Inn, Burton. Upscale Eats will cater the event.
The theme of the tea will be Christmas trees with a narrative about former First Lady Caroline Harrison, wife of Benjamin Harrison, 23rd president of the United States, 1889-1893. The Harrisons are credited with bringing the first Christmas tree into the White House.
Cost is $45 or $50 for vegans. Space is limited. Call 440-285-3741 for reservations.
Proceeds benefit the free services and shelter offered to victims of domestic violence at WomenSafe’s Green House on Ravenna Road in Munson.
Geauga County Dog Shelter
Please consider a year-end donation to the Geauga County Dog Shelter, 12513 Merritt Road, Munson. The shelter’s only county income is from the sale of dog licenses, adoption fees and private monetary donations. Dog food, treats, bedding and toys are also welcome.
Checks can be made payable to “Geauga County Dog Shelter” and mailed or brought to the shelter. For open hours, call 440-286-8135 or 440-279-2180.
