Kindergarten Registration

Appointments for kindergarten registration for the West Geauga Local School District for the 2015-16 school year can be made by calling 440-729-5900. Registration will begin Feb. 2 and continue through Feb. 6.

Superintendent Search Progressing

The search for a new school superintendent for the West Geauga Local School District is progressing as planned, according to board of education President Dan Thoreson. First round interviews have been completed and three semifinalists have been scheduled for second round interviews with the board. Cheryl W. Ryan of the Ohio School Boards Association has facilitated the search process.

The semifinalists for the position are Paul Lombardo, director of human resources, Cleveland Heights-University Heights City Schools; Richard Markwardt, superintendent, Beachwood City Schools; and Francis Scruci, superintendent, Gahanna-Jefferson City Schools.

Board members plan to meet with the three semifinalists next week, with the intention of determining which two individuals will be finalists for the position. Finalists will have an opportunity to meet selected community and district stakeholders, although the process and timing for that step is not yet scheduled or finalized.

“We were so pleased with the high quality of all who showed interest in becoming our next superintendent,” said Thoreson. “We look forward to learning more about each of our three semifinalists during the next interview, and believe we are on track toward making a very positive and exciting decision for our school and greater community.”

The board hopes to name the next superintendent by the end of February.
