Township Meetings

With Sympathy

Deepest sympathy is extended to family and friends of Lillian Bissell, who passed away Jan. 18, 2015, at 89 years of age. Lillian was my best and favorite dance teacher at Fairmount Center where she taught ballet, Spanish and free-form dance. She was also a gifted artist. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Munson Roads have been drivable during one of the heaviest snowfall periods, and possibly the longest cold spell, thanks to the men on the road crew under the direction of Jim Teichman, road superintendent. The men work clearing roads all day and all night in sub-zero temperatures, a job not to be envied. Thank you, road crew.

Munson Elementary School

The Munson Elementary School PTO is accepting donations from Munson businesses and families to help supply specific educational materials, special projects, technology and enrichment. Current sponsors are Munson-based Junction Auto Family, Roediger Chiropractic and Royle Insurance Agency.

At the Geauga YMCA

The Geauga Family YMCA, 12460 Bass Lake Road, Munson, is offering information on its health and wellness center, aerobic studio, full size gymnasium, 25-yard lap pool, youth and adult sports programs and summer camp information for 2015.

Good Tidings Benefit Choir

The Good Tidings Benefit Choir is seeking participants to join the choir for practices on Sundays from 2-4 p.m. at the Notre Dame Chapel, 13000 Auburn Road, Munson. This year marks the choir’s 26th anniversary.

The choir is open to high school students and older. The spring programs will be held at Notre Dame on March 21 at 7 p.m. and March 22 at 3 p.m. Copies will be available at practice for the second and third sections of Handel’s “Messiah” for $8 or bring your own.

At the Senior Center

The Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson, offers Morning Stretch with Kathy and News Break discussion daily Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m. Registration is not required.

Also, at the Chardon Senior Center, every Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to noon, Wii Bowling for practice for seniors entering the annual bowling tournament being held March 3 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Mapletown Squares

The Mapletown Squares will host a dance Feb. 13 at 8 p.m., at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson. Callers will be Ray Marsch and Charlie Brown on rounds and squares and Danny Beck on solo square.

At the Rookery

The Geauga Park District’s Rookery in Munson extends an invitation for a cozy evening of fireside songs and stories with hot chocolate on Feb. 21 from 7-8:30 p.m. Stories and songs, suitable for all ages, will illustrate a delightful interplay of animal stories and nature songs.

Indoor Flea Market

The indoor flea market at the Munson Township Hall and Fire Station, 12200 Auburn Road, will be held Feb. 28, rain, snow or shine, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market offers a shopper’s paradise of antiques, collectibles and garage sale items. Table spaces are sold out.
