Township Meetings

Organization Meetings

Major League Ball Field: March 10 – May 31, Chardon High School Softball Team (Snyder), Monday through Friday, 3-6:30 p.m.; March 16 – May 31, Chardon High School Varsity Baseball (Long/Snyder), every day (except Sundays) for practices, 3-6 p.m. and games, 3-7:30 p.m.
Board Members Needed
Ravenwood Mental Health Center, 12557 Ravenwood Drive, Munson, is seeking volunteers to serve on its board of directors. The board meets the last Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Board members serve a three-year term and are asked to serve on a committee, which meets several times each year, and a fund-raising committee.

With the Arts
Women’s History Month is being celebrated with a beautiful art show in the gallery of Lakeland Community College, Clocktower Drive, Kirtland. The show features works in a variety of media by well-known local artists portraying women.
The display continues through March 27, daily 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information, visit lakelandcc.edu/gallery or call 440-525-7029.
At the Senior Center
Geauga seniors who qualify financially can receive free transit vouchers to travel to and from grocery and medical appointments. For more information and guidelines, call the Chardon Senior Center at 440-279-2130.
The AARP Smart Driver course will be offered at the Chardon Senior Center March 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch break is from 12-12:30 p.m. After taking the course, senior citizens may be eligible for discounts on auto insurance; agents should be contacted for details.
Cost for the one-day course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. Make checks payable to AARP. For reservations, call 440-279-2131.
GSWCD Camp Scholarships
Applications are available for Geauga County high school students for the 2015 Ohio Forestry and Wildlife Conservation Camp Scholarship sponsored by the Geauga Soil & Water Conservation District (GSWCD) at Camp Muskingum, Leesville Lake, Ohio. The camp runs June 7-12.
Applications are due no later than April 1.

Mapletown Squares
Mapletown Square Dancers will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on March 13 from 8-10:30 p.m. at the Geauga Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson. The dance will be called by Danny Beck and cued by Charlie Brown.
Come dressed in one’s favorite greenery with other leprechauns. Beginners are welcome and there will be dances at that level.

Geauga Family First Council
The Geauga Family First Council will meet March 16 at 2:30 p.m., at Geauga County Job & Family Services, 12480 Ravenwood Drive, Munson. The monthly meetings offer support, understanding and help with family problems as provided by various Geauga County agencies.
Meetings are open to the public. Preregistration is not necessary.

Spring Ahead
Daylight-saving time begins at 2 a.m. March 8. Be sure to turn the clocks ahead one hour to start enjoying longer days.
