Ahh … it has warmed up. Maybe the cold weather is over and the maple syrup guys can get started tapping. I suppose it is hard walking in the woods with all the snow.

Our sympathy goes out to the family of Dan and Sara Byler with the passing of father and grandfather. He passed away on March 7 and his funeral was March 10.

Mrs. Jonas Susie Miller, of Madison Road, is not well after having a heart attack. She is 89 years old.

Plans were to move Ervin Byler, of Nauvoo Road, to Briar Hill for rehab following a stroke. We wish him a full recovery. He owns the Spring Shop on Nauvoo Road.

Granddaughter Rachel Miller, 11, broke her wrist sliding down a snow bank. She needed to have a pin put in. This happened on March 5. It was the same weekend a year ago that her dad had an accident in Punderson sledding when he broke both ankles and his left leg very bad.

I have started going for therapy on my shoulder. It was five weeks ago today that I broke it.

The sun is shining the morning of March 9 and it looks like it will be a nice day to dry laundry outside.

Our company on March 8 was Andy and Ida Miller, who stopped in after church at Lester Detweiler’s. Also, in the evening were Philip and Martha Miller and four boys, and Ray and Judy Miller and daughter Maria. It was a very enjoyable evening.

The blood drive her on March 7 brought in 78 donors. Thanks go to all who donated. Hopefully, next drive will bring in more. We were down a bit from the last drive.

We are looking forward to having daughter Betty and Melvin Byler coming to visit the evening of March 12 until the afternoon of March 14. They also want to visit Melvin’s siblings. It was a year ago their mother died. Melvins live in Mio, Mich.

Sister Fannie Yoder is now home from Burton Health Care after being there for therapy for four weeks. She is getting around with a walker. She broke her hip six weeks ago.

We received word Miss Katie Weaver died the morning of March 9. She lived with her brother Danny and family on Nauvoo Road. Our sympathy goes to the family.

Geauga Co., Ohio: March 5, 1891

The people are busy boiling maple syrup.

If one family had all the maple syrup that is made in Geauga County, it would be a very sweet family.

D.D. Miller is doing a good business in slate roofing and carpenter work and is at present building a house for J.C. Schlabach.

S.S. Yoder has rented a farm north of Burton and moved there on Feb. 24. He has about five hundred maple trees and will be boiling in the near future.

Things you don’t want to hear on the operating table: “Okay, Dr. Stiglitz, you’re on. I’ll prove I can remove this gall-bladder with my eyes closed and one hand tied behind my back.”

You all have a good week.
