School Buses Are Rolling

Red lights flashing on a school bus indicate the bus is going to stop for children to board or exit the bus and wait for children who must cross the road. Traffic in both directions must stop until the lights are not flashing and the bus begins to roll.

Drivers who pass a bus and do not stop are subject to a heavy fine. If anyone witnesses a driver violating this, do not hesitate to get the license plate and report to the Geauga County Sheriff, 440-286-1234.

An Act Of Courage

Congratulations to Munsonite Ronald Mansfield, who averted an armed robbery and possible murder, on Aug. 16, at the Pizza Hut in Chester Township by grabbing the robber’s gun and chasing him out of the restaurant. His quick action is truly an act of courage. (The full story was published in the Aug. 23 edition of this newspaper.)

Rabies Vaccine For Raccoons

Bait with rabies vaccine to control the deadly disease in raccoons and other animals is being spread in Geauga and neighboring counties starting Aug. 27. Bait is packaged in small white packets coated in a fishmeal glaze about the size of a ketchup packet.

ONRAB bait is also being spread and is also being used to eliminate rabies in raccoons. This is in small, dark green blister packs.

If found, do not touch either one. Rabies is spread by saliva by skunks, bats, fox and raccoons and is often fatal to human beings, dogs, cats and other animals.

If found, call the Geauga Park District, 440-286-9516 or call the Geauga County Sheriff, 440-286-1234.
