Lindsey PTO Family Science Night
The cafeteria at Lindsey Elementary was transformed into a science lab with multiple stations of hands-on learning experiments and challenges for students to try. Upon entry, students received a color-coded lanyard listing the seven different stations. Students navigated their way through the stations and received a sticker for completion of a challenge. Stations included how to make elephant toothpaste, viewing slides under a microscope, snap circuits, marshmallow towers and hoop gliders, to name a few. Students learned about physics, chemistry and basic science concepts all while having fun.
The PTO sponsored and organized the event along with the help of fourth-grade teacher Jim Croff. Members from the West Geauga Kiwanis Club were on hand to help with the different science experiments.
“Every year the PTO hosts a family night to thank the many volunteers for their service. This year with the help of Mr. Croff, we decided to host a science night,” said Becky Edwards of the Lindsey PTO. “This is the first time an event like this was hosted at Lindsey.”
An overwhelming amount of parent and students attended the event, making it a huge success. “We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout,” said principal Ron Dahlhofer.
