D.A.R.E.
Mrs. Michelle Chiacchiari’s sixth-grade class recently completed Deputy Roy Lundstrom’s semester long D.A.R.E. program. Through D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), Lundstrom provides students with knowledge, skills and an opportunity to explore attitudes to help them to make informed decisions and to develop safe and healthy lifestyles. Students discussed topics including tobacco, alcohol, bullying, antisocial behavior and different types of pressure.
Book Drive
During Catholic Schools Week, fifth- and sixth-grade students organized a book drive and collected over 1,600 books for the Volunteers of America. The proceeds from the sale of books will help feed the unemployed, disabled, senior citizens, low income and single parents of northeast Ohio.
Power Of The Pen Regionals
Last month students participated in the Power of the Pen, a statewide writing competition. After placing 10th and 13th at districts, four of the six team members qualified for regionals: seventh-graders Allie Barcikoski and Andrew Watts, and eighth-graders Chris Carter and Allie Martin.
The regional Power of the Pen tournament will take place at Hudson Middle School on April 9.
