Spanish Day

Habla Espanol. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Spanish high school students visited and worked with Notre Dame Elementary School second-grade students in Spanish. During the class, the high school students reinforced Spanish vocabulary through interactive games and hands-on materials.

GCCTM Problem Solving Tourney

On Feb. 20, fifth- and sixth-grade students participated in the Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Math (GCCTM) Problem Solving Tournament, which focused on working together to solve math problems. The goal of the tournament is to promote enthusiasm for math, challenge students in an energizing setting and celebrate community-wide achievements of these young mathematicians.

Science Olympiad Team

After taking first place at the St. Ignatius Science Olympiad, sixth-grade Science Olympiad participants continued on to the Northeastern Regional Tournament at Case Western Reserve University on Feb. 20. It is a great learning opportunity for students to expand their scientific knowledge in the ever-changing world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Spelling Bee Champ

On Feb. 18, eighth-grader John Pawlikowski became the champion speller for Geauga County after correctly spelling the word “tenement.” The triumph will qualify him for the tri-county spelling bee on March 3, where John will face competitors from Lake and Ashtabula counties in Kirtland.
