Recorder Show

The St. Helen third-grade music class received a real treat this past week. Ms. Sally Dawson visited the class and put on her recorder show. The students were amazed at the sizes and sounds of recorders ranging from a huge bass to a tiny recorder that hung around Ms. Dawson’s neck. They were also able to try out the various recorders along with a violin.

Spring Band Concert

Mr. Kevin Bell’s instrumental band students performed their spring band concert at St. Helen School this past week for students, faculty and family members. The audience was entertained by beginner band’s performance of ‘Attack of the Slide Trombones” and “Jesus Loves Me.” Not to be outdone, Mr. Bell’s advanced band performed “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from “Toy Story,” “Everything is Awesome” from “The Lego Movie,” a Beatles medley and the Batman theme.

Peter Pan

Congratulations to St. Helen students in grades 5-8 and musical director Annemarie Wenner for an outstanding performance in the Broadway musical “Peter Pan.” The audience was entertained by Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick Tinkerbell along with the Darling children and the villainous Captain Hook. Iconic songs “I’m Flying,” “I Won’t Grow Up” and “Never Never Land” delighted the audience. The student’s performance of “Peter Pan” was the perfect show for the child in all of us who dream of soaring high and never growing up.

Kindergarten Buddies

Students in Ms. Nicole Reichard’s third-grade class read their favorite childhood books to their kindergarten buddies to create new friendships and build leadership skills.
