It was a beautiful morning on June 6. The laundry was drying on the lines and smelled so fresh.
We have martins teasing us by sitting on the martin house, but will they stay? We hope so.
We spent a quiet day at home on June 5 reading and writing letters. Then, in the late afternoon, we spent several hours at son Mark’s. Daughter Sylvia, Dan and three children spent the evening at their daughter Rosanna’s and family.
Coming for the wedding at Reuben and Irene Byler’s for daughter Martha Mae and Freemon, son of widow Marty Erma, were our daughter Betty, Melvin and Juanita and Reuben’s sister Betzy and husband Joey. They came from Mio, Mich. Melvins were our overnight guests. The evening of June 1, we surprised son Wayne for his birthday. It was a little early on account of Melvins being here to join us. They came the afternoon of June 1 and left for home again after the wedding on June 2.
Esther J. Miller, of Jug Road, fell and broke her knee real bad. It’s in a leg brace and she can’t move or stand on it. She is stayed at her sister Katie Yoder’s for a week. Then she went down to her house until Katie got back from a grandchild’s wedding in Richfield Springs, N.Y.
Our school, Saw Mill Lane’s auction was the evening of June 8. We served grilled chicken, fries, salad, ice cream and pie.
Many schools had their end of the year field trips, with many going to Niagara Falls.
Relatives were notified of the passing of Allen L. Miller, of Smicksburg, Pa. His funeral was on June 5. Neighbors Romans and Ada went, being Roman’s brother-in-law.
Fresh strawberries are being picked. I need to make lots of jam for my dinners.
The benefit auction the evening of June 3 at Buster Miller’s for Crist and Virginia Miller was well attended. Virginia is taking treatments for cancer and this was to help with expenses.

We are having fine weather and everything is looking nice in this county.
I am working for P.D. Reed on his “Home Stock Farm.” Mr. Reed has a fine herd f Holstein Friesian cattle; some prize winners at the state fair and several county fairs.
Amos Weaver is still working in Warren.
John J. Miller, wife and daughter, Mrs. Hershberger of Holmes County are visiting friends in this county.
Geauga County celebrated her 100th anniversary on the 14th, 15th and 16th. There was a good attendance and a large display of relics. A goose of 77 years of age was on exhibition.
John Stutzman is night watchman at the station stave mill.
