Hello from the Amish Crossing Corner.

It was a nice mild winter morning on Dec. 12. There was a nice cover of snow, making it look pretty.

The morning of Dec. 11, our church people gathered here in our shop for our Christmas. We sang for a while and then had a few games followed with lots of snacks and punch. The three widows and Andy and Barbara were presented with many nice gifts. It was a very enjoyable evening.

The evening of Dec. 14, the church women planned to gather at Mrs. John Mat Miller’s for our Christmas gift exchange.

Our family Christmas is now planned to be at son Mark’s on Jan. 6.

On Dec. 9, we had our annual pig butchering day here in our shop. We did 14 pigs for the children and grandchildren. Many hands make light work!

Levi (Stef) Miller, of Madison Road and special son of widow Saloma Miller, is back in the hospital with a blood clot on his lung. He had hernia surgery and was home only a day before needing to go back in.

Jonathon P. Miller, 12, son of Philip and Martha, had surgery at the Cleveland Clinic on Dec. 12 to remove a growth in his throat-neck area. To send him some cheer, send to 7724 Rockwood Road, Windsor, OH 44099.

The baby of Cristy and Maureen Hershberger is still in Cleveland Rainbows and Children’s Hospital and has been in intensive care for quite awhile. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all.

The funeral of cousin Dan Slabaugh’s wife Mattie was on Dec. 7 in Conewango, N.Y. On Dec. 8, relatives went to the viewing.

Bits and Pieces From Out of the Past

Welshfield, Geauga County, Ohio: Dec. 22, 1899

Roads are in good condition. Snow is all gone and we are having very fine weather for this time of year.

Bishop David Kauffman of Indiana is visiting among friends here.

Bishop Jonas Byler, of Lawrence County, Pa., who has been visiting relatives and friends here, returned home today.

Ben J. Schrock intends to start for Holmes County tomorrow.

Abe C. Troyer, Andy Yoder and Albert J. Schlabach of Tuscarawas County are sojourning among friends here at present.

The Cleveland Chagrin Falls and Eastern electric railroad is now graded as far as Jug Street. I think they will stop here, as it would not pay for them to go any further.

This leaves us all well.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
