GEAR

On Jan. 27, five members of GEAR (Geauga Engineering and Robotics) 4-H Club participated in the West Geauga Kiwanis STEM Fair. Members demonstrated their 4-H projects.

Robert Sunderhaft took first place in the math competition while Bryn Morgan and Peter Wesen took second place in the “How Do I Fare?” competition for middle school. Alyssa Mobley won third place in the individual technical research projects for middle school.

All five members, including Kaylee Daley, advanced to the next level of competition and are eligible to participate in the regional science fair at the Western Reserve District 5 Science Day, which will be held at The University of Akron.

Geauga Prime Time

The January meeting of Geauga Prime Time 4-H Club was called to order by the president, Dillon Cox, at 7:10 p.m.

The pledges were led by William Mazurak followed by roll call and reading of the minutes and treasurer’s report. Both were approved by the club.

Members went over old business. Steer tagging took place on Dec. 2 at the fairgrounds and all went well. They then talked about ideas for buyers gifts and came up with some great ideas. More discussion will follow at other meetings.

Jerry Kline Ruminsky, who is the community service leader, asked everyone to bring in items for the Geauga Human Society and for the Geauga Dog Warden. Many items came in and Jerry will be delivering the items soon.

Kelly Heirman talked to club members about marketing their animals and getting started now, not just a month before the fair.

Jeanne handed out the enrollment forms for everyone to fill out and get back to her at the next meeting. The group went over important dates to remember for the year and then there was a motion to adjourn the meeting. The meeting ended at 8:04 p.m.
