Greener Fields
The 2018 Greener Fields 4-H Club has kicked off another year. The first meeting was held on Feb. 6. Recently, new 4-H officers were elected. The 2018 officers are: Mary O’Neill, president; Andrew Kolenic and Annika Markoff, vice presidents; Keirstan Mesnick, secretary; Tyler Mesnick, treasurer; Gavin Scocos, health and safety; Bowen Fogel, historian; Joslyn Borah, news reporter; Samantha Bergansky and Jayme O’Neill, recreation; and Alexander and Zoe Maloney, refreshment officers.
The club held a meeting on April 3 at the Geauga County Fairgrounds in the School Exhibit Building. The advisors always have something planned to expand the group’s knowledge on its projects every meeting.
This month there was a guest speaker from Purina, Christa Scarbrough, who talked to us about how to best care for the club’s poultry projects to ensure that they are always healthy and taken care of the right way.
The club is kicking off its food drive for the Geauga Hunger Task Force in partnership with all fellow 4-H groups in the area and with local businesses. Dr. Augustine Kellis will match the food drive efforts up to $25,000. (Submitted by Joslyn Borah, news reporter)
