In past and present Greener Fields 4-H meetings, club members have been discussing opportunities to help the community and those around, as well as getting ready for the Great Geauga County Fair. The June 25 meeting at the fairgrounds in the pavilion was mainly about how we as a group can help serve the hungry in Geauga County and elsewhere, and how we could bring joy to those we collect the food for.

The very first thing we did was roll call and pledges, next we talked about service opportunities to help the veterans and how to help the hungry. We made bookmarks to give to Meals on Wheels, and talked about doing a food drive at Wal-Mart to collect food to give to the local food pantries. Thank you to the Bergansky team for donating $75, and to Keller Williams for donating $100 to help out with the food drive, where the money they donated will be matched dollar for dollar.

We then started discussing things for upcoming fair such as fair decorating booth ideas and decorations to put around fair in the animal areas, and on our lockers. We also discussed buyer gifts and letters for those who purchase our animals at fair, and fair forms to hand in so we could participate in fair.

At our 4-H meetings, we have our main meeting and then poultry meetings – or whatever animal anyone is doing – where we discuss how to properly care for our animals as they grow and how to prep them for fair.

Thank you for tuning in and reading this article. Next time, I will be writing an article on my experiences at the fair. (Submitted by Joslyn Borah, news reporter)
