Granny’s Kids 4-H Club would like to thank the 227,906 people and the almost 200 market buyers who supported 4-H by attending the 2019 Geauga County Fair and buying market projects at the auctions. Granny’s Kids Club is always looking for new members who want to learn by doing.

This year, club member Hannah Whitmer won both Grand Champion Market and Dairy Goat, as well as first place in rabbit showmanship, while Rebecca Whitmer had the Reserve Champion Udder Dairy Goat. Other market goat winners included Hank Arnold, Mason and Mack Douglass. Hank won first in both cart and pack goat.

Several members did well in goat showmanship, including Addison Heilman and Hailey Day, who both took firsts, and Bobby Williams, who placed second. Members also showed market chickens, ducks and turkeys, with Katie Schuler, Jack Jacobs, Buddy Ferg and Stasi Ferg placing third or above in showmanship.  Fancy Poultry winners included Gianna Cro, Hollie Whitmer, Buddy, and Lina Ferg. Members also exhibited in the rabbit and cavy shows with Stasi Ferg taking Best in Show six class Rabbit and Buddy and Lina Ferg winning their Cavy showmanship classes. Lina Ferg won Best in Show in the Any One Can Bake contest and members also exhibited vegetables, art and photography.

Club members are looking forward to their end-of-the-year Halloween party and shopping spree for a Jobs and Family Services family.

Families interested in checking out 4-H Camp Whitewood might enjoy their Spooktacular Halloween Party Oct. 25, from 6-9 p.m., where the grand costume prize is a camp scholarship.

If anyone wants to support 4-H, TSC is having a Paper Clover Campaign starting Oct. 9. Signup deadline to join 4-H next year is April 15. (Submitted by Lina Ferg, news reporter)
