Giggles ‘n Stitches
Every year, the Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Club gives back to the community by making donations to charities and doing service projects in Geauga County. This year, one of the club’s major donations was to WomenSafe. At the club meetings on June 16, 30 and July 7, members collected donations for WomenSafe. Donations ranged from gently used clothing and towels to personal care items and baby products, as well as other necessities for the shelter like toilet paper. Over 27 large bags were collected.
The service project was led by Samantha Sunderhaft, Giggles ‘n Stitches vice president. She is also the community service chairperson for the 4-H Club. Samantha planned the service project with the club’s lead advisor, Julia Wood. Samantha contacted WomenSafe to find out its current needs, communicated the list of needs to the club members, collected all of the donations and delivered them to WomenSafe.
WomenSafe is located in Chardon and its mission is to provide emergency shelter and support services to survivors of domestic violence throughout Northeast Ohio. It responds to the needs of victims experiencing domestic violence and provides education in the community aimed at reducing the incidence of domestic violence and making the community aware of what help is available.
