Giggles ‘n Stitches
The Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Club has started off the year with a bang. Club leaders Julia Wood, Miranda Skitzki and Jackie Hammonds began the year with business, going over 4-H bylaws, 2023 updates and electing club officers.
The positions are filled by the club participants that have been involved with 4-H for a few years and are experienced with how the club functions. The officers are also elected by club members through nomination and speeches made by candidates, to elect the most fitting and applicable club member. Elected officers are Rebecca Zaller, president; Samantha Sunderhaft, vice president; Emily Tessean, secretary; Emma Parker, treasurer; Margaret Zaller, hospitality coordinator; Audrey Knaus and Victoria Cherney, health and safety officers; Isabelle Violette, Helena Haar and Gianna Aquila, historians; and Hannah Cooper, news reporter.
Once business was completed, it was time to begin exploring projects and collecting supplies. To kick off the year, the club had the opportunity to go to the Sewing and Quilt Expo in Akron. Next, there was the JoAnn’s friends and family field trip to JoAnn Fabrics in Hudson. The point of the field trip was to find a pattern and fabric to meet the criteria of each member’s chosen project. The meeting was very beneficial for the members and allowed connections to be made between advisors and the members under their direction. The visit also allowed for members to receive feedback and find the best possible project for them to complete. Each member was able to find a fitting project.
The club’s year is progressing quickly, with just a few weeks left until the Style Revue and project judging. Until then, each member will be working diligently to finish their projects.
