Feathers and Fleece

In January, 15 club members from Feathers and Fleece 4-H Club put the 4-H pledge, “My Hands to Larger Service,” into practice by attending a service project organized by the club’s community service officer Katie Thur. Participants owning rabbits and bantam chickens brought them to Maplewood Assisted Living in Munson. First, the kids presented breed information about their pets to the group and then visited with the residents one-on-one. They were able to touch and learn a little bit more about the animals. Everyone easily connected through their love of animals and one resident still remembers the 4-H pledge. Surprisingly, most of the residents raised livestock at one point in their lives.

In additionthe club recently donated $300 to each of the following: Red Tulip Project, Birthright Geauga and Geauga County Veterans Food Bank. The money was primarily raised at the milkshake booth at The Great Geauga County Fair. Those who purchased a milkshake at the fair helped the club contribute to those in need.
