GLTG Shakes It With Shakespeare
The Bard is in charge in Chardon for the next two weeks. In cooperation with the Chardon Arts Jam, a one-day festival celebrating the arts on Chardon Square June 25 from 12-9 p.m., Geauga Lyric Theater will perform two weekends of Shakespeare comedies.
On June 25 and July 1, director Mark Cipra will present “Twelfth Night,” Shakespeare’s comedy of gender confusion, in which a girl disguises herself as a man to be near the count she adores, only to be pursued by the woman he loves.
On June 26 and July 2, director Angela Miloro-Hansen will be offering “As You Like It,” a favorite romantic comedy. Banished by her uncle to the Forest of Arden, a young woman disguises herself as a man and puts her would-be husband to the test, discovering both her partner and herself in an instant.
Both productions are full of laughs, and tickets are only $6. Casts include some GLTG regulars, people new to the theater and some Renaissance Fair folks.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.geaugatheater.org or by calling the box office at 440-286-2255.
Geauga Lyric Theater is located at 101 Water St. on Chardon Square.
