The musical story of “The Addams Family,” directed by Lisa-Marie French at Geauga Lyric Theater, is perfect for the Halloween season. The familiar family has older children and new challenges that even involve a crypt full of ancestors.
They’re kooky and they’re creepy, but what family doesn’t have those moments? The cast of “The Addams Family,” running Oct. 23 through Nov. 8, agrees with those sentiments. The cast has repeatedly remarked that the GLTG family has been warm and welcoming, and they are enjoying preparing the tale of dysfunctional relatives to present to packed audiences.
On Oct. 25, after the matinee, enjoy the beautiful vocals of Sarah Edwards-Maag in her debut solo concert, Rhythm and Boos. There will also be a midnight concert after the 8 p.m. Oct. 31 performance.

Words and Wine
Nov. 3, 6:30 p.m.
Christopher Franke will return to Your Vine or Mine, 154 Main St., Painesville, to read his poems in the Words and Wine poetry reading series.
A long-time participant in the Cleveland poetry scene, he now
hales from Andover. Known as an experimental poet, he has coined the terms “flip words” and “toe-faced words.” Open mic for poems begins at 6:30 p.m.
WomenSafe Theater Party
Nov. 29, 2 p.m.
The matinee performance of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” at the Chagrin Valley Little Theater is a benefit hosted by Friends of WomenSafe. The lobby will open at 1 p.m. for a gift certificate raffle. Complimentary refreshments will be served during intermission.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children 10 and under. The theater party is made possible through the generosity of Junction Auto Sales.
A bedtime story Ian Fleming created for his son, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” is a tale about the Pott family and a magical car.
