The youth take over the stage at Geauga Lyric Theater in the Emerging Artists One…

One Act Festival at GLTG

March 19, 7 p.m.

March 20, 2 p.m.

The youth take over the stage at Geauga Lyric Theater in the Emerging Artists One Act Festival. Developed by outreach coordinator Angela Miloro-Hansen and grant writer Mary Glauser, the Emerging Artists is a new program to showcase up and coming actors, grades 6 through 12, to show skills they have learned in classes and rehearsals to prepare themselves for the main stage.

The One Act Festival will start with a musical, the “100 Dresses,” directed by Julie Douglass and Karen O’Baker Porter. A touching story about a poverty stricken young girl who insists to her classmates that she has 100 beautiful dresses at home, despite their disbelief. When she moves away, they are surprised at the truth.

“The Giver,” the Newbery Award winning book about a dystopian society that encourages equality and treats emotions as an abnormality, is a favorite among many readers. This drama will be directed by Angela Miloro-Hansen.

Patty Osredkar, a staple at the GLTG, directs “Soapy Smith’s Winter Wish,” based on a story by O. Henry. Soapy is a once successful, now down on his luck man who tries to get arrested to spend the winter indoors. In a comic turn, no matter what he does will work.

General admission tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students, seniors and children. They can be purchased online at www.geaugatheater.org or at the box office.

Tickets are also available for GLTG’s last show in its regular season, “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” running weekends April 15 to May 8.

The historic Geauga Theater is located at 101 Water St., Chardon.
