Adult Winter Reading Bingo

Jan. 3 to Feb. 28

Stop in to sign-up and to pick up a Bingo card. Complete it to be included in a drawing for a fabulous prize.

Vintage Tablet Covers

Jan. 4, 1-3 p.m.

Make a tablet cover from an old book. The library will have sizes that will fit Nooks, Kindles, iPad mini and Android tablets. Bring embellishments to make it even more personal. Registration is required.

Storytimes

Jan. 6 through May 1

Storytimes for children 0 to 5 with a caregiver are held Monday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings. No storytimes will be held the week of March 30 due to spring break.

Geauga Skywatchers Club

Jan. 6, 6:30 p.m.

The hands-on astronomy club for teens in grades 6-12 is taught by members of the Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society. Meetings rotate at member’s locations. Check member’s websites for updated and future meeting dates and times. Registration is required.

Sexual Abuse Prevention Program

Jan. 8, 6 p.m.

Jan. 11, 11 a.m.

At the two-part program, professionals from the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center will provide an educational program for parents and children on child sexual abuse prevention and awareness. In the parent education session on Jan. 8, topics such as how to start the conversation about safety with one’s child and the warning signs to look out for will be discussed. The parent and child education session on Jan. 11 will focus on how to stay safe. Registration is required.

3-D Print Class for Kids

Jan. 13, 20 and 27, 3:30 p.m.

Youth in grades 4-9 will learn how to make their own personalized 3-D print keychain. Registration is required.

Bookmark Madness

Jan. 14 at 1:30 p.m.

Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m.

Make bookmarks personal by creating one’s own design or using the library’s templates, then have them laminated to take home.

Karate for Kids and Teens

Jan. 18

Join for a karate lesson by teachers from the Karate Institute. Students will learn basic self-defense and the importance of staying safe.  Two classes are offered: ages 5-10 at 11 a.m. and ages 11 and older at 12:15 p.m. Registration is required.

Scottish Highland Dance Class

Jan. 29

Ms. Christina, a Highland dance teacher in her spare time, will teach the introductory class. While geared toward children, interested adults are welcome. Two classes are offered: ages 4-7 from 6-6:30 p.m. and ages 7 and older at 6:30 p.m. Classes will also be offered Feb. 26 and March 25. Registration is required.
