Fresh Start at Chardon UMC
The congregation of Chardon United Methodist Church welcomes the community as Pastor Diane DeVall brings the message Fresh Start on Aug. 25. This will be her first sermon to the whole congregation as she begins her ministry.
The congregation will also be recognizing teachers and students as they have a fresh start of a new school year. All teachers and students are welcome to come.
Sanctuary service begins at 8:45 a.m. and the contemporary STRUCK service is at 10 a.m. in Hayden Hall with the band Reign Forecast.
The church is located at 515 North St.
Blessing of the Animals
The Federated Church of Chagrin Falls is having a short blessing of the animals service, picnic and service project for Rescue Village on Aug. 25 at 11:30 a.m. at Bellwood Lake on Leaview Road in Chagrin Falls. Vegetarian pasta dishes and beverages will be provided. Guests with last names beginning with A-K are requested to bring a dessert and those with last names beginning with L-Z a side dish.
All animals must be leashes or caged. Donations for Rescue Village are being collected at Federated Church, 76 Bell St., and at the event.
Donations that are especially needed are Purina Cat, Dog, Puppy or Kitten Chow; bleach, paper towels and safe dog and cat toys.

Financial Peace University
Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University will be offered at Chardon United Methodist Church starting Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. The nine-week course provides families and individuals with practical tools to gain control of their finances and set themselves up for long-term financial success. The course meets once a week where a different lesson is taught by Ramsey on DVD followed by a small-group discussion.

The Gift of Peace Event
Be a partner in outreach to Geauga County residents by attending the Gift of Peace event on Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 12686 Bass Lake Road in Munson Township. The event will feature live music, food concessions, Puppets of Peace, square dancers, clogging and Chinese auction.
Donations will benefit Geauga County Habitat for Humanity. Parking is across the street at Munson Elementary School, with handicapped drop-off at Peace Lutheran Church.
