Jim Gill Family Concert

July 18, 6-8 p.m.

Jim Gill, nationally-acclaimed musician and author, will be performing at an active sing-along, clap-along concert for the whole family.

Held offsite at Oberland Park, 14639 Auburn Road, Newbury Township, the program is funded by the Geauga County Library Foundation.

Explore the interesting life cycles and enjoy the beauty of Geauga County’s butterflies and moths.

Read, Hike, Create

July 22, 10 a.m.

Children ages 3 to 5 with a caregiver will welcome summer by reading a book, taking a short “nature hike,” and creating a take-home craft.

Exploring the Solar System

Girl Scouts Badge-in-a-Day

Girl Scout Juniors can earn their Space Science Investigator badge in an afternoon. All troops are welcome.

Hoarding

Based on the hit show “Hoarders” on A&E, the presentation takes a deeper look into hoarding and provides an in-depth look at the dangers involved.

Quilt Block Party

One Giant Leap Party

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first walk on the moon. Enjoy games, snacks and photo opportunities. All ages.

Sew a Star or Alien

Teens in grades 6-12 can craft a star or alien beanbag by hand-sewing with crafting felt. Materials and snacks provided.

Dance Party

Homeschooling families may join for an entertaining afternoon learning new dances and old favorites. All ages and families welcome.

A Universe of Stories

July 24, 7 p.m.
Cheryl McClellan, GCPL genealogist, will show how to find one’s U.S. ancestors’ stories using clues in the census columns.

Cookbook Club

July is National Culinary Arts Month. Show off one’s all-time favorite recipe and bring a sample to share with the group.

Friends of the Library Book Sale

July 24-27

The Geauga West Friends of the Library summer book sale begins July 24 with a members-only preview from 4-6 p.m. Memberships are available at the door. The public sale follows from 6-8:30 p.m.

The sale continues July 25, 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; July 26, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and July 27, which is $5 Bag Day, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

There are thousands of new and gently used adult, young adult and children’s books, puzzles and audio/video items.

Exploration Station

Children entering grades 3-5 are encouraged to discover and investigate art, science and nature.

Avoiding Mistakes in Retirement
