Clarence Bozeman, personal driver to Martin Luther King Jr., will offer a workshop and presentation at GCPL’s Geauga West Branch and Chagrin Falls Park Community Center, Feb. 7 and 8.

System-Wide Events

Tax Assistance 

Volunteers from AARP will help library patrons file their 2019 federal and state taxes. Appointments are required by calling the local library. Bring a copy of 2018 tax returns; proof of identity; social security card.; all 2019 tax forms and all health Insurance information and/or forms regarding the Affordable Care Act.

Appointments are available at Bainbridge, Mondays and Saturdays, Feb. 1 through April 13 except Feb. 3, 22 and 29, March 2 and 21 and April 6; Chardon, Wednesdays, Feb. 5 through April 15; Geauga West, Thursdays, Feb. 6 through April 9; and Middlefield, Tuesdays, Feb. 4 through April 14, except March 17.

Yoga for Beginners

A local yoga instructor will teach routines with different poses and their benefits. Bring a yoga mat. Waiver is required.

Tween Group Art Series

Tweens in grades 4-8 may join for a collaborative art project featuring narrative silhouettes.

The Beatles at Shea Stadium
Feb. 3, 7 p.m. 
Dave Schwensen, author of “The Beatles At Shea Stadium” and “The Beatles In Cleveland,” goes behind the scenes and on stage for the group’s legendary 1965 performance at New York’s Shea Stadium. A display of Beatles memorabilia will be available for viewing before and following the program. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Decorate a Heart Box
Feb. 4, 7 p.m. 
Decorate a papier-mâché heart box in honor of Love your Library month. Materials will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring in any papers or embellishments they might want to use.

Club Ink Writing Workshop
Feb. 5, 5:30-7 p.m.  
Writers may join with creators of all genres who are interested in critiquing work while sharing experiences, information and ideas. Both aspiring authors and seasoned veterans are welcome. Registration not required.

A Book and a Brand 

Feb. 5, 6:30-8:30 p.m. 
In the workshop presented by Willie and Rachel Scott, of TKI Publishing, learn what happens after a book is published. Learn practical tools to help develop a strong brand to increase one’s marketing ability.

Cloudy with Meatballs
Feb. 6, 2 p.m. or 4 p.m. 
Youth in grades K-5 will enjoy the wackiest weather story ever told and totally wild weather activities.

Geauga Shutterbugs
Feb. 6, 6:30 p.m.   
Geauga Shutterbugs Geauga’s photography enthusiasts gather the first Thursday of the month in the Chardon Branch’s Bostwick Room to explore photography techniques, give and receive critiques and enjoy field trips. All experience levels are welcome. No fees or dues are required.

Kombucha Level 1
Feb. 4, 7 p.m.  
Level 1 Basics is an opportunity to taste commercial and homemade brews, learn about kombucha benefits, why people drink it and how it’s made. Take home a basic starter kit and detailed brewing guide. Materials fee is $10.

Osteoporosis Education
Feb. 5, 11 a.m. 
Experts from UH Geauga Medical Center will discuss how osteoporosis can affect both men and women. Diet, exercise and a healthy lifestyle are ways to prevent and manage the disease.

Little Artists
Feb. 6, 11 a.m.
Preschoolers ages 3-5 will experience a hands-on art activity and explore their creativity with hearts.

Shrinky Dinks
Feb. 6, 6–7:30 p.m. 
Youth ages 9-12 will create their own one-of-a-kind design, watch it shrink right before their eyes and then turn it into a cool accessory.

Geauga Skywatchers Club
Feb. 3, 6:30 p.m.
Join for “Hubble at 28; Answers and Questions from the Hubble Space Telescope.” The hands-on astronomy club for youth in grades 6-12 is taught by members of the Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society. Sphero Coding Club
