Apple Butter Festival

Oct. 9 and 10, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The annual Apple Butter Festival returns to the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton. In addition to the making of the Society’s own apple butter products in cast iron kettles and watching giant kites flying, there will be music, vendors, food and family fun. Historic buildings and artisans will be open for viewing.

Burton Fall Festival

Oct. 9 and 10, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Burton Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a fall festival weekend on Burton Square. Fun for all ages, enjoy live music, food and vendors. Maple stirs at the Burton Log Cabin from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Burton Village Tree Commission will commemorate Arbor Day on Oct. 9 by giving away white pine seedlings from 10 a.m. to noon on the square in conjunction with the chamber‘s Fall Festival.

American Legion Pig Roast

Oct. 9, 4-7 p.m.

Newbury American Legion Post 663 is hosting its annual pig roast dinner and homemade pie auction at the post located at 11008 Kinsman Road in Newbury Township. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.

Geauga Jeep Invasion

Oct. 10

Rotary Club of Burton-Middlefield along with Junction Auto Family and others are sponsoring the Geauga Jeep Invasion for the Veterans. The jeep drive through scenic Geauga County begins, rain or shine, at Mayfield Road Drive-In, 12100 state Route 322, Chardon.

Registration is at 8 a.m. The drive starts at 10 a.m. and ends back at the drive-in at 11 a.m. Sponsor recognition is at 11:30 a.m.

First 200 jeeps receive a goodie bag and bottled water. Twenty door prizes will be awarded.

Donation is $25 per jeep. All proceeds benefit veteran services.

Blessing of Animals 

Oct. 10, 2 p.m.

DeJohn Pet Services is hosting its annual blessing of animals and memorial service at the DeJohn Pet Services on the campus of DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Homes, 28890 Chardon Road in Willoughby Hills. The outdoor, ecumenical service is free and open to the public.

Everyone is welcome to bring their pet for a blessing and/or photos or token of a deceased pet to be used in the memorial service. Private blessings are available upon request.

Creations Boutique Sale

Oct. 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Children’s Guild of Cleveland is hosting its annual Creations boutique featuring jewelry, fiber arts, seasonal decor, gourmet and hostess gifts, women’s accessories, children’s items and vintage treasures at Acacia Reservation Clubhouse, 26899 Cedar Road, Lyndhurst.

Admission is $5. All proceeds benefit selected Cleveland area children.

FOW Amish Wedding Dinner

Oct. 13, 5:30 p.m.

The Friends of WomenSafe’s annual Amish Wedding Dinner will be held at the home of Mary Miller, 13301 Princeton Road in Middlefield. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner being served at 6 p.m.

Dinner is $35 for adults and $20 for children under 10. The event includes a gift card raffle.

Fall Rummage Sale

Mayfield United Methodist Church, 7747 Mayfield Road, Chester Township, is hosting a rummage sale. Admittance is free.

Hours are Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Early bird entrance at 8 a.m. Thursday is $10. All proceeds benefit missions.

GCP Networking Mixer

CV Herb Society Meets

Oct. 15, 12:30 p.m.

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library, 17222 Snyder Road. Carrie Whitten, graphic designer and photographer at Bluestone Perennials, will present flower and garden photography. Each attendee will receive a Bluestone catalog and may enter a drawing for a Bluestone gift certificate. The program will begin after refreshments and business meeting.

Word of Grace is hosting its Family Fun Fallout harvest festival and chili cook-off. Join for good food, live music, kids games, a pumpkin race, costume contest and inflatables. The church is located at 9021 Mayfield Road in Chester Township.

Church Turkey Dinner

Huntsburg Congregational Church will host its annual turkey dinner drive-thru, preorder only at 12435 Madison Road, Huntsburg Township.

Cost is $10 for an adult portion with pumpkin pie and Sweetest Day surprise. Buy six 50/50 raffle tickets for $5.

Maple Leaf Hosts Clambake

Maple Leaf Community Residences will host an old-fashioned clambake at SNPJ farms located at 10946 Heath Road, Kirtland.
