Chardon VFW Rummage Sale

Sept. 23 and 24, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Chardon VFW Post 6519 Auxiliary will hold its annual rummage sale at the post located at 752 Water St. in Chardon. The sale includes housewares, small appliances, tools, camping and sport gear, pet supplies, gardening equipment, plus many new and nearly new contents from two estates.

SND Barbecue & Boutique

Sept. 25, 12-5 p.m.

The 60th annual Sisters of Notre Dame barbecue and boutique will be held in the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin gymnasium on the Notre Dame Center campus located at 13000 Auburn Road in Chardon.

Chicken dinner is $15. Take out is available. Tickets are available at the door or buy online at www.sndusa.org/bbq.

American Legion Meet-and-Greet

Sept. 27, 6 p.m.

Burton-Middlefield American Legion Post 459 is hosting a meet-and-greet for all veterans at the legion post located at 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton. Free hot dogs will be served.

Pet Blessing & Care Fair

Oct. 1, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Celebration Lutheran Church will host a pet blessing for companion animals and service animals at the parking lot of the church located at 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon. Attendees will receive a goodie bag.

Visit with representatives from area rescue organizations including Muttley Crue and the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs. Learn about the new program to help temporarily homeless families retain their pets sponsored by Project Hope for the Homeless and the Lake Humane Society.

Event will be held indoors in case of inclement weather.

Bake Sale and Basket Raffle

Oct. 1, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Huntsburg Congregational Church will hold a bake sale and gift basket raffle during the Pumpkin Festival on the church grounds at 12435 Madison Road, Huntsburg.

DTJ Chicken and Duck Dinner

Oct. 2, 12-2 p.m.

DTJ Taborville is having a chicken and duck dinner at 9850 North Blvd., Auburn Township. Anthony Culkar will provide music from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Cost is $15 for an adult dinner and $8 for a children’s chicken dinner. A half duck dinner is $21. Takeout is available.

Geauga Jeep Invasion

Oct. 9

Rotary Club of Burton-Middlefield along with Junction Auto Family and others are sponsoring the Geauga Jeep Invasion and Jeep Show for the Geauga County D.A.R.E. program. The jeep drive through scenic Geauga County begins, rain or shine, at Mayfield Road Drive-In, 12100 state Route 322, Chardon.

Registration is at 8 a.m. The jeep show and drive start at 10 a.m., with the drive ending back at the drive-in at 11 a.m. Sponsor recognition is at 11:30 a.m. Free door prizes will be awarded.

Donation is $25 per jeep for the show and $50 for the invasion tour.

FOW Amish Wedding Dinner

Oct. 12, 5:30 p.m.

Friends of WomenSafe will host their annual Amish wedding style dinner at the home of Mary Miller, 13301 Princeton Road in Middlefield. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner being served at 6 p.m.

Dinner is $38 for adults and $18 for children under 10. There will be a gift card raffle.

Geauga SWCD Dinner

Oct. 18, 6 p.m.

Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District celebrates its 78 years of conservation at its annual dinner and election at the Claridon Woodlands Lodge, 11383 Claridon Troy Road in Chardon.

Join for food, conservation awards, painted rain barrels and raffle items. Cast a vote to fill two open positions on the Geauga SWCD Board of Supervisors. Candidates are Lorrie Benza, Tracy Engle and Jeff Huntsberger.

The election is from 6-7 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Cost is $13 per person.
