American Legion Pig Roast

Oct. 8, 4-7 p.m.

Newbury American Legion Post 663 and auxiliary unit 663 are hosting their annual pig roast dinner and homemade pie auction at the post located at 11008 Kinsman Road in Newbury Township. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. To go orders are available.

Geauga Jeep Invasion

Oct. 9

Rotary Club of Burton-Middlefield along with Junction Auto Family and others are sponsoring the Geauga Jeep Invasion and Jeep Show for the Geauga County D.A.R.E. program. The jeep drive through scenic Geauga County begins, rain or shine, at Mayfield Road Drive-In, 12100 state Route 322, Chardon.

Registration is at 8 a.m. The jeep show and drive start at 10 a.m., with the drive ending back at the drive-in at 11 a.m. Sponsor recognition is at 11:30 a.m. Free door prizes will be awarded.

Donation is $25 per jeep for the show and $50 for the invasion tour.

FOW Amish Wedding Dinner

Oct. 12, 5:30 p.m.

Friends of WomenSafe will host their annual Amish wedding style dinner at the home of Mary Miller, 13301 Princeton Road in Middlefield. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner being served at 6 p.m.

Dinner is $38 for adults and $18 for children under 10. There will be a gift card raffle.

VFW Taco Dinners

Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m.

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will serve chicken, beef and shrimp tacos every Wednesday in October at the post located at 752 Water St. Prices range $6 to $8 for a taco platter. Individual tacos cost $2 to $3 each. The public is welcome.

Chinese Auction

Oct. 13, 11 a.m.

A Chinese auction sponsored by Daughters of Mary will be held at St. Mary Hall, Orwell. The auction begins at 7 p.m. Winner need not be present. The event features more than 300 prizes, including door prizes, 50-50 raffle, free snacks and concession stand. Entry ticket, which includes a strip of 10 tickets, is $5. Donations are welcome. Entrepreneur Success Breakfast

Creations Boutique Sale

The Children’s Guild of Cleveland is hosting its annual Creations unique boutique featuring jewelry, fiber arts, seasonal decor, children’s items, vintage treasures and more at The Family Life Center, 16349 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township.

Admission is $5. All proceeds benefit selected Cleveland area children.

Drive-Thru Turkey Dinner

Huntsburg Congregational Church will host its annual turkey drive-thru dinner, preorder only at 12435 Madison Road, Huntsburg Township. Cost is $12 for an adult portion.

Woodland Wednesdays

Oct. 19, 7-8:30 p.m.

The Woodland Wednesdays series continues with “Logging Laws for Landowners” at the Ashtabula Soil and Water Conservation District office, 39 Wall St., Jefferson. The program will review applicable laws, best management practices to include in a contract and real world issues to anticipate. Featured speaker is Nathan Paskey, district manager of Ashtabula Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) and secretary/treasurer of the Northeast Ohio Loggers Chapter.

Housing Coalition Chili Cookoff

Nov. 4, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Geauga County Housing Coalition is holding its eighth annual fundraiser at Metzenbaum Center, 8200 Cedar Road in Chester Township. Proceeds will be distributed to local agencies to help homeless and at-risk individuals and families in Geauga County.

Numerous county agencies will have their special chili recipes for attendees to taste and judge. The event also includes a Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle, door prizes and wine pull, along with information about local agencies and services.

Tickets are $15, which includes appetizers, chili tasting, homemade desserts, door prize entry and one auction ticket.

Holiday Boutique and Brunch

Nov. 13, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Maple Leaf Community Residences will host a holiday boutique and brunch at the Club of Hillbrook Club in Chagrin Falls. Brunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. and guests will enjoy a special appearance by the Cleveland Ballet.

Tickets are $60 for adults and $25 for children 10 and under. Ticket sales close Nov. 4.
