Peace Lutheran Chili Cook-Off

Peace Lutheran Church will host a chili cook-off, Chinese auction and bake sale at the church located at 12686 Bass Lake Road in MunsonTownship. Parking is available behind church at lower level entrance.

Free Fresh Produce

Oct. 15, 9-11 a.m.

Newbury United Community Church is hosting a fresh produce giveaway at 14961 Auburn Road. Cleveland FoodBank provides the service to low income Geauga County residents the third Saturday of each month through October. Please bring ID and bags.

Creations Boutique Sale

Oct. 15, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Children’s Guild of Cleveland is hosting its annual Creations unique boutique featuring jewelry, fiber arts, seasonal decor, children’s items, vintage treasures and more at The Family Life Center, 16349 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township.

Admission is $5. All proceeds benefit selected Cleveland area children.

Hambden CC Chili Cook-Off

Oct. 15, 1-4 p.m.

Hampden Congregational Church will host a chili cook-off inside the church located at 13840 G.A.R. Highway. Come eat chili with all the fixings and vote for one’s favorite. Admission is $5; children 10 and under eat free.

Third Thursday Business Social

Oct. 20, 8 a.m.

Chester, Russell and Newbury area businesses may register for West Geauga Chamber of Commerce’s Third Thursday Business Social at Geauga West Library. October’s topic is “lncrease Your Holiday Sales with Google Tools.” Learn how local brick-and-mortar businesses can list products on a Google Business Profile and how to use Google Merchant Center. Coffee and donuts are provided.

West G Plaza Trick or Treat

Oct. 20, 4-6 p.m.

The merchants at West Geauga Plaza in Chester Township are hosting a Halloween Trick or Treat for children ages 2-12 accompanied by an adult. Dress in costume, bring a treat bag and stop by the plaza stores for treats.

Young of Heart

Oct. 21, 11:30 a.m.

Geauga Young of Heart will meet at Anselm Church in Chester Township. Bring a brown bag lunch. Snacks and beverage are provided. Guest speaker Paul Goebbel will present about the underground railroad in Ohio.

A Christmas trip has been planned for Dec. 8 and 9 to Clifton Mills for its light display. Cost is $310 per person, or $316 for nonmembers. For reservations, call Nancy at 440-729-9684. Everyone is welcome on Young of Heart trips.

CV Herb Society Meets

Oct. 21, 12:30 p.m.

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library, 17222 Snyder Road. After social time, there will be a presentation by Ken and Debbie Butler from White HouseChocolates.

Consider donating; contributions are needed to complete the new garden.

Great Pumpkin Contest

Burton Health Care Center is hosting its first annual Great Pumpkin Contest. Entries can be carved, decorated or painted. Pumpkins must be submitted by 7 p.m. Oct. 24

Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place in each age category along with overall special awards. Judging will take place on Oct. 26 from noon to 3 p.m. Participants may view the pumpkins beginning at 4 p.m.

Scarecrow and Scarepot Contest

Businesses, community organizations, families and clubs are invited to participate in Chardon Square Association’s Scarecrow and Scarepot Contests running Oct. 24 to Oct. 30. Winners will be announced on Oct. 31.

Christmas Boutique

Nov. 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The St. Anselm Women’s Guild annual Christmas Boutique will be held at St. Anselm School, 13013 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. There will be handcrafted and unusual items for holiday shopping as well as a snack bar, bake sale and prize raffle. Admission is $1.
