First Fly In Of Summer

Amateur Radio Field Day

Ham radio operators from the Geauga County area will participate in a national amateur radio exercise from 2 p.m. on Saturday until 2 p.m. on Sunday. The event is ARRL Field Day, an annual amateur radio activity organized since 1933 by ARRL, the national association for amateur radio in the United States.
Field Day highlights ham radio’s ability to work reliably under any conditions from almost any location and create an independent, wireless communications network.

Pride in Geauga

Pride in Geauga will honor and celebrate sexual orientation and gender identity diversity at Century Village in Burton. Hosted by Geauga SOGI Support Network, the family event will feature live music, catered food, family entertainment and outdoor activities for all ages. More than 25 local and regional resources serving LGBTQ+ will provide information.

Booth spaces are available at the 17th annual Geauga County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman’s Council’s (OHC) benefit flea market being held in the picnic shelters area of The West Woods, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.
Vendors may pay $25 for two parking spaces or $15 for a picnic table inside the shelter.
All vendor fees benefit the OHC and Bridle Trail Fund, administered by the Foundation for Geauga Parks on behalf of the Geauga County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman’s Council.

Maple Splash Raffle Festival

The Rotary Club of Burton Middlefield is hosting the fifth annual Maple Splash Festival at Century Village in Burton. The free event includes 50/50 raffle, live music, food trucks and other local vendors. More than 20 local charities will be represented offering games, snacks and information.
Donations of nonperishable food items for the Veterans Food Pantry will be accepted.
Grand prizes include a 2022 Chevy Silverado as well as prizes donated by local businesses. Drawings will be held at 8 p.m.

Prison Art Project Reception
July 21, 7 p.m.
St. Mary Church, Chardon will host the Prison Art Project Reception in the Gathering Space. The traveling art project sponsored by Crossroads Prison Ministry contains moving works as prisoners find beauty and faith behind prison walls through visual, written and sculptural expression.
A brief presentation will be given, along with refreshments. The artwork can through Aug. 4.
