Rockin’ with Resources

The community connection event on Chardon Square includes music, food, giveaways and kids activities. Join for the New Leaf Program graduation and resource fair featuring more than 30 local community organizations.

Food Pantry Open

Aug. 25, 10 a.m. to noon

The food pantry at the Chester Christian Center church is open to anyone community in need of food. One does not need to be a member of the church to attend.

Chester Christian Center is located at 11815 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

Free Community Dinner

Aug. 25, 5-6:30 p.m.

Mayfield United Methodist Church is hosting a free community dinner at the church located at 7747 Mayfield Road in Chester Township. Carryout is available.

Bainbridge Rox

Aug. 26, noon to 10 p.m.

Bainbridge Civic Club is hosting its annual Bainbridge Rox at Centerville Mills Park, 8558 Crackel Road in Bainbridge Township. Admission and parking are free.

The event features live music, ox roast and food trucks, kids zone, beer tent, volleyball tournament, Texas Hold’em tournament and merchants and exhibitors.

Military Show

Sept. 2, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Armilitary Hermitage Co. is sponsoring its second annual Valor of Veterans military show featuring American vehicles and equipment on Chardon Square. The free event includes food trucks, face painting and a balloon artist.

This and That Sale

Sept. 7-9

St. Mark Lutheran Church Women’s League will host its annual This and That garage and estate sale at the church located at 11900 Chillicothe in Chester Township. A presale will be held Thursday from 5-8 p.m. with a $5 admission. The sale continues with free admission on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

LCRTA To Meet

Sept. 12, 11 a.m.

The Lake County Retired Teachers Association (LCRTA) will meet at the Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Cathi Weber will present “Haunted Willoughby,” a collection of ghost stories at 11:30 a.m. A chicken club or grilled vegetable wrap lunch will follow the program.

All newly retired teachers are invited to attend.

Fall Fish Sale

Sept. 14, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

The Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District is taking orders for its annual fat fish sale that will be held on the midway at the Geauga County Fairgrounds. Pond safety kits are also available.

Junk in the Trunkfest

Sell items from one’s trunk or bring a tent or table at Junk in the Trunkfest held in conjunction with Auburn Township’s annual community picnic at Auburn Community Park, 17484 Munn Road, Auburn Township.

Accessible Legion Fund

The Atwood-Mauck American Legion Post 459 in Burton is raising funds to make the upper hall of the post handicapped accessible and hopes to reach its goal of $100,000 by the end of the year. An anonymous donor has come forward who will match any donations made now through the end of September, up to $10,000.
