Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St., is hosting Re-Shined Christmas, a gently used Christmas decor and more sale to benefit the Geauga County Night to Shined Prom for special needs. Admission is $5 to the preview sale and silent auction on Friday from 6-9 p.m. The main sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon includes a visit from Santa and a kid’s shop.

Pumpkin Festival
Oct. 7 and 8
Huntsburg Township hosts its 53rd annual Pumpkin Festival at the intersection of state routes 322 and 528. There is no entrance fee and all contests, entertainment, attractions and activities are free.
There is also free parking and a free shuttle service from the parking areas to the festival grounds. The pancake breakfast is open each day from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

RC Modeling Swap Meet

Geauga Radio Controlaires RC Model Flying Club is hosting the 12th annual Radio-Controlled Modeling Swap Meet at 4200 state Route 306, Willoughby.
The event features 77 exhibitor tables of items for sale, barter and trade by regional modelers. A Chinese auction of new planes and equipment will be held at 12:30 p.m. Proceeds support the RC flying field.

Pet Blessing & Care Fair

Celebration Lutheran Church will host a pet blessing and care fair for companion animals and service animals in the parking lot of the church located at 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon. The fair will be held indoors if weather is inclement. Attendees will also receive a goodie bag.
Visit with representatives from area rescue and animal therapy organizations including Lake County Humane, Rescue Village, the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs, Geauga Mama Dogs and Pups and InStep with Horses.

Prime Time for K9s

Partner with the Chardon VFW Post 6519 to enjoy an afternoon of fundraising to benefit the Geauga County Sherriff’s Office K-9 Unit at the post located at 752 Water St. in Chardon. The event is open to the public from noon to 5 p.m.
A prime rib dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. Dinner tickets are $100 and include a reverse raffle. Raffle begins at 7:15 p.m. The event also features a Chinese auction, 50/50 and silent auction. All proceeds will go directly to the K-9 Unit.

Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District celebrates its 79 years of conservation at its annual dinner and election at the Claridon Woodlands Lodge.
Join for food, conservation awards, raffle items and a presentation titled “Getting Sappy: A Short and Sweet Overview of Geauga County’s Maple Syrup Industry.” Cast a vote on the next board supervisor. Candidates are Mike Henry and Robert Lausin.
The election is from 6-7 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

Hershey Montessori Cosmic Run

Hershey Montessori School is hosting its annual Cosmic Run 5K and 1-mile fun run at Observatory Park, 101610 Clay St. in Montville Township. Race starts at 9 a.m. The event is open to the community. All ages are welcome. First, second and third place awards will be given in age groups from 11 to 71 years as well as prizes for best dressed to the cosmic theme. Event includes T-shirts for registrants, music and giveaways.
