Join to fill shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items for the Samaritan’s Purse project during National Collection Week, Nov. 13-20.

Local collection sites include Chardon Christian Fellowship, 401 S. Hambden St., Chardon; Restoration Chapel, 14890 Burton Windsor Road, Burton; and Newcomb Road Amish, 15978 Newcomb Road in Middlefield. Collection hours vary by location.

Young of Heart 

Nov. 17, 11:30 a.m.

Geauga Young of Heart will meet at St. Anselm Church in Chester Township. Bring a brown bag lunch. Snacks and beverage are provided. The speaker is Sandra Zikursh with “Christmas Memories.”

Santa Shoppe Craft Show

Nov. 18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Girl Scout Troop 71437 is hosting a Santa Shoppe Craft Show at Claridon Town Hall, 13930 Mayfield Road. Santa will visit from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit the troop.

Holiday Shop and Entertainment

Nov. 18, 5:30-9 p.m.
Join for an early opportunity to holiday shop and enjoy entertainment by acclaimed violinist Gigi at Bremec Garden Center of Concord. Hors d’oeuvres and wine will be provided.

Proceeds will benefit Maple Leaf Community Residences, providing housing for the developmentally disabled.

WGEF Thanksgiving Breakfast

Nov. 23, 7:30-11 a.m.

The West Geauga Educational Foundation’s annual Thanksgiving Day breakfast at the Chesterland McDonald’s returns after three years. Enjoy a warm holiday breakfast of pancakes, sausage and beverages for only $7. Dine in or take out.

Christmas Lighting of the Square

Nov. 30

Chardon Square Association, Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Chardon are hosting the lighting of Chardon Square. Pilgrim Christian Church will serve a chili dinner from 5-7 p.m. The chamber will serve hot cider and cookies in the park throughout the evening.
The Geauga Music Center Band performs at 6:30 p.m. on the bandstand, followed by Chardon High School Free Harmony at 7 p.m. and the arrival of Santa in a horse-drawn sleigh at 7 p.m. Children will then be able to visit with Santa inside the Heritage House.
Chardon Square is located at the intersection of state routes 44 and 6.

Breakfast with the Clauses

Dec. 2

Munson Township’s annual Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus takes place at the Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. Pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee will be served.

Pictures with Santa will be available on a jump drive, with proceeds going to Boy Scout Troop 91.

Sign-up forms may be downloaded at munsontwp.com or picked up at the township office between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Advance registration is required. For more information, call 440-286-9255.

Homemade Cookie Sale

Dec. 2

Middlefield Historical Society is having a homemade cookie sale. Pick up the cookies Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 14979 South State Ave., Middlefield. Each container holds approximately 30 cookies. To order, call or text Barb at 440-503-6444.

GOP Christmas Party

Dec. 2, 6-9 p.m.

The Geauga County Republican Party will host their annual Christmas party at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club in Bainbridge Township. The event includes appetizers, buffet dinner and silent auction. Donations for the auction are welcome.

GCRTA Holiday Brunch

Dec. 5, 9:15 a.m.

The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association will meet at St. Mary Banquet Center, 401 North St., Chardon. Gathering time will be followed by a business meeting at 9:30 a.m. and the traditional holiday brunch served at 10 a.m.

The Chardon High School show choir Free Harmony will present their holiday show and Brian Cataldo will play holiday music during brunch. A 50/50 raffle and a free lunch raffle will follow the program.
