Geauga Dems Film Showing
Jan. 15, 7 p.m.
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., the Geauga Democratic Women’s Caucus will show the movie “Selma” at the Geauga County Democratic Headquarters, 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is free; donations will be accepted. Popcorn will be served.

Outreach Spaghetti Dinner
Jan. 18, 6-7 p.m.
Christ Presbyterian Church offers free drive-thru spaghetti and meatball dinners the third Thursday of each month. Salad and dessert are included. The church is located at 12419 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.
Maple Syrup Workshops
Jan. 20
Maple Producers of NE Ohio are hosting two workshops that will take producers from tree to table and beyond. Come to one or both.
Backyard Maple Syrup Maker will cover the basics of making maple syrup from tree ID, tapping, gathering, storage, hobby boiling techniques on a smaller scale, filtering and finishing syrup. The workshop will be held at James Miller’s Sugar Valley Maple Farm, 15771 Chipmunk Lane, Middlefield from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Home Kitchen Confections will be held at The Patterson Center at the Geauga County Fairgrounds, 14269 Claridon-Troy Road, Burton from 1-3 p.m. Participants will learn the basics of making maple candy, maple coated nuts, maple cream and maple sugar.

Bats Incredible

Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District hosts “Bats Incredible Creating a Bat Friendly Backyard” at Adam Hall, 11455 E. Washington St. in Auburn Township. Learn all about beneficial bats and ways to turn backyards into bat habitats. The family-friendly program will cover bat biology, natural history, bat myths and threats, gardening for bats, activities and more.

Join Leadership Geauga for its second annual speed-networking event at the Kent State University Geauga, 14111 Claridon-Troy Road in Burton.
