Food Pantry Open

The food pantry at the Chester Christian Center church is open to anyone in the community in need of food. One does not need to be a member of the church to attend.

The church is located at 11815 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

Large Item Trash Drop-Off Day

June 1, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Auburn Township residents may bring their items to the Adam Hall Community Center, 11455 Washington St. No hazardous waste, building products, household garbage or yard waste will be accepted.

A nominal fee of $7 per car and small truckloads and $10 per large truckload will be charged. A maximum of eight truck tires, on and off rims, per household will be accepted for free.

FGP Explorers Series

Entertainment in the Park

Thompson Township begins its free summer entertainment series on Thompson Square with the Big North Band.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Well-behaved pets are welcome.

Pioneer School

July 8-12, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Geauga County Historical Society will host its 51st annual Pioneer School for children ages 8-12 on the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton. Each day will be filled with a variety of activities, each with a link to the past. On the last day, families can bring a picnic lunch and participate in a scavenger hunt.

Cost is $100 per child for Society members and $120 for nonmembers. To register, call 440-834-1492.
