Geauga Young of Heart will meet at St. Anselm Church in Chester Township for a fun “Giving Thanks Party.”

The annual members only Christmas Party is on Dec. 5 at Manakiki Country Club in Willoughby Hills. For reservations, sign up at a meeting or call Monica Gromek at 216-659-8117.

A bus trip is planned to Playhouse Square State Theater on Dec.12 to see “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” Call Kimber at 440-668-3293 to be placed on the waiting list.

WGEF Thanksgiving Breakfast

Nov. 27, 7:30-11:30 a.m.

West Geauga Educational Foundation is hosting its annual Thanksgiving breakfast at the Chesterland McDonald’s. Enjoy pancakes, sausage and coffee, juice or milk for only $7. Take out or dine in.

Holiday Cookie Sale

Middlefield Historical Society is selling homemade holiday cookies. Preorder by calling or texting Barb at 440-503-6444. Donation is $12 for 30 cookies. Cookie pickup is Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Century Inn Underloft, 14979 South State Ave., Middlefield.

Missions Benefit Christmas Auction

Nov. 28, noon

The Missions Benefit Christmas Auction will be held at Buster Miller’s Auction Barn, 17717 Newcomb Road, Middlefield.

Festivities begin at noon with food and an auction preview, bake sale and basket raffles. At 3 p.m., the grand auction starts; bid on experiences, hunts, services and more.

Mayfield United Methodist Church is hosting dinner at the church located at 7747 Mayfield Road in Chester Township. Carryout is available.

Tree Lighting on The Square

Nov. 29, 6:30-8 p.m.

Chardon Square Association, Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Chardon are hosting the Christmas lighting of Chardon Square. Pilgrim Christian Church will serve a chili supper from 4:30-7 p.m. Performances include the Lake Youth Choir at 6 p.m., the Geauga Music Center Band at 6:30 p.m. and Chardon High School’s Free Harmony at 7 p.m. followed by the lighting of the park and the arrival of Santa in a horse-drawn sleigh. The chamber will serve cider and cookies throughout the evening.

Woodland Wednesdays

Dec. 3, 6 p.m.

Join Woodland Wednesdays for “Don’t Leave Your Woodlands to Chance” in a virtual program. From conservation easements and financial tools to transition planning and tax considerations, the session will help landowners understand their options, maximize the value of their land and make confident, informed decisions about managing and affording their woods long-term.

Women Owning Woodlands Workshop

Dec. 6, 8:30 a.m.

North-Central Ohio chapter of Women Owning Woodlands will host a “Tools of the Trade Workshop” at the Working Woods Learning Forest at Holden Arboretum in Kirtland. Refreshments will be served at 8:30 a.m. followed by the program at 9 a.m.

Learn about common tools, equipment and safety gear for general woodland management, including invasive removal. An optional hike will be available for those who wish to stay after the program ends.

Registration is required by Nov. 25. Email forestry@holdenfg.org with questions and registration.

First CCC Cookie  Walk

Dec. 6, 9-11 a.m.

The 25th annual Cookie Walk will be held at First Congregational Church of Claridon, 13942 Mayfield Road. A wide assortment of homemade cookies will be offered at $10 per pound, boxes provided. The church is handicapped accessible.

Breakfast with the Clauses

Dec. 6

Munson Township’s annual Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus takes place at the Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. Pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee will be served.

Pictures with Santa will be available on a jump drive, with proceeds going to Boy Scout Troop 91. Cookie decorating is back by popular demand.
