Trinkets and Treasures Sale

April 23-25

The Federated Church of Chagrin Falls is holding its annual Trinkets and Treasures sale at the Family Life Center, 16349 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township.

Pre-sale entry day is Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Admission is $10 this day only. The sale continues Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, half price and bag day, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

April 25, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A pancake breakfast to benefit Trail Life and American Heritage Girls will be held at Friendship Alliance Church in Chagrin Falls. Proceeds support local youth programs. For more information, visit TroopOH2206.com/fundraiser.

PCC Pancake Breakfast

April 25 and 26, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Pilgrim Christian Church is hosting its 76th annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfasts at the church located at 202 S. Hambden St. in Chardon. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids.

Grange Rummage Sale

April 25, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Huntsburg Grange is hosting a rummage sale and open house in the Huntsburg Town Hall, 16534 Mayfield Road. The event includes a basket raffle, bake sale and antiques.

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

April 25,6-8 p.m.

St. Helen Unicycle Drill Team will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser and unicycle performance in the St. Helen School gymnasium, 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township.

The drill team performance begins at 7 p.m. The event also includes a Chinese auction and50/50 cash raffle.

Tickets are available at the door: $15 for adults, $10 for children under 12 and $12 for seniors.

Happy Tails Benefit Dinner

May 3, 2-5 p.m.

The non-profit, no-kill Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary is holding its fourth annual “Sunday Dinner with a Purr-pose” benefit at the Banquet Center St. Noel, 35200 Chardon Road in Willoughby Hills.

Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. with a family-style dinner at 2:30 p.m. Event includes silent and Chinese auctions, 50-50 raffle and live entertainment.

LCGS Meets

April 30, 10 a.m.

The Lake County Genealogical Society will meet via Zoom. Following the business meeting, Merralee Retallick will present “Introduction to AI for Genealogy.” The program will include basic terminology of Artificial Intelligence and a bit about where it’s been and where it’s going in relation to genealogy.

Young of Heart

May 1, 11:30 a.m.

Geauga Young of Heart will meet at St. Anselm Church in Chester Township. Refreshments will be provided, along with a derby hat party with prizes.

A trip to the Aurora Atlas Movie Theater is planned for May 7 at 11 a.m. The movie is to be determined.

Upcoming trips include “The Great Gatsby” at Playhouse Square’s Palace Theatre on June 17, with dinner to follow, and a July 7–9 visit to Gettysburg, Pa., featuring historic sites and a show at Sight & Sound Theatre in Lancaster.

Meet Us in the Garden

The OSU Lake County Master Gardener Volunteers continues its Meet Us in the Garden talk at the Mentor Public Library, 8215 Mentor Ave.

The topic, “Mental Health and Gardening,” will explore the benefits of gardening on mental well-being, including reducing stress, anxiety and depression.

Union Chapel Program

May 2, 4:30 p.m.

South Newbury Union Chapel will present “Union Chapel in Art, Poetry and Song,” a free program at Claridon Township Town Hall, 13930 Mayfield Road. Doors open at 4 p.m.

The program will feature the gospel quartet Spirit Bound performing songs about Geauga County, along with poetry readings and a brief history of the chapel. The event also serves as a fundraiser to support restoration of the historic Union Chapel.

Local artist Lynn Vandevort will unveil original artwork of the chapel, with signed and numbered prints available for purchase. Additional items, including a Cat’s Meow replica of the chapel, a Centennial Oak replica and memorial walkway bricks, will be available. Cash or check only. The Centennial Oak will also be receiving a historic marker in August.

Chicken Dinner

May 6, 3:30-6 p.m.

Southington United Methodist Church is hosting a chicken dinner at 4348 state Route 305.

Dinner includes chicken, potatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, a roll, dessert and beverage. Cost is $15 for adults, $7 for children (chicken tenders) and free for children 3 and younger. Cash only.
