Hidden Gems Hike
April 28, 1-3 p.m.
Join a naturalist exploring the trails of the park district’s new park, Holbrook Hollows, and discover nature in the springtime landscape of forest and meadow. Dress for the weather and expect hilly terrain. Registration required.
Holbrook Hollows is located at 7250 Country Lane Road in Bainbridge Township.
West Woods Wednesdays
Themonthly farm market returns to picnic shelters in Russell Township on the second Wednesday of each month, July to September for a one-stop shop for all mid-week, farm-fresh needs.
On top of vendors providing all kinds of locally made/grown items from 4-7 p.m., an onsite food truck will be serving dinner and snack options for purchase.
The park district is still accepting applications from interested farm market vendors, particularly those with fresh produce, flowers, breads/baked items and similar products. Vendor applications are available online.
Spring Scout Days
Dress for the weather and explore Geauga parks to earn scouting credit. Registration is now open.
On May 4, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will practice fire building, orienteering, outdoor cooking and knot tying at Chickagami Park. Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts will participate from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by Boy Scouts in grades five through 12 from 1-4 p.m.
Then, for Boy Scouts can work on their BSA Astronomy Merit Badge at Observatory Park on June 12 from 7-10:30 p.m. Pre-work will be required, with more information sent upon registration and an astronomy Merit Badge counselor will be on site to help complete the process.

Amphibians Of Many Kinds
Enjoy the warmer-weather awakening of the park district’s woodland amphibians at three different park programs offered at The West Woods in Russell Township.
Amazing Amphibians
May 4, 3-4:30 p.m.
Learn about frogs and salamanders during a fun indoor presentation, then head outdoors for a half-mile hike to experience the sights and sounds. No registration required.
Frog Fest “Party Line” Call List
Sometime in May, 8-9:30 p.m.
Register at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516 to get a call (expect short notice) when conditions are right for the noisy courtship of gray tree frogs and green frogs as they come to woodland pools to breed.
Secret Lives of Salamanders
May 17, 7-8:30 p.m.
Roberta Muehlhein, assistant curator of vertebrate zoology at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, relates the biology, mating and biodiversity of Ohio’s salamanders, complete with displays of live local salamanders. No registration required.
