Climb, Ride, Glide and Play
Claridon Woodlands’ ropes course opens May 26. Days open will be Friday through Tuesday, 12:30-8 p.m.; adventures start at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 4, 5, 6 and 7 p.m. One-hour sessions will be free to Geauga County residents (ID required), but cost $20 for out-of-county residents (credit card only, paid onsite).
The ropes course features platforms 32 feet off the ground linked by eight 23-to-32-foot-long challenge elements. Return back to the ground by a 100-foot-long zipline.
Visit the park district website to learn age requirements, weight restrictions and more before heading out to the park.
For those craving adventure on the water, self-guided tours of East Branch Reservoir will also become available beginning June 2, starting at the Headwaters Park Boathouse – one’s late spring and summer hub for kayak and canoe borrowing on a first-come, first-served basis. Each loan can last up to two hours, available Friday through Tuesday, 1-8 p.m.; each day’s last boat goes out at 7 p.m.
Geauga County residents can borrow the park’s limited number of kayaks and canoes for free (ID required); out-of-county residents must pay $5 per hour for adults, $3 per hour for kids 12 and under, and $8 for tandem (credit card only, paid onsite). Provided life vests must be worn at all times.
