Government

All township meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend. The next meeting is Feb. 2.

Anyone wishing to be placed on the agenda should contact the chairman, Nancy Saunders, at 440-636-5486, ext. 4 or email huntsburgtwp@windstream.net.

The office is open by appointment; call to schedule a visit.

Huntsburg Township received $207,209.93 from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES) funds. The township offered small business grants and six Huntsburg small businesses received between $1,240 and $2,000. A total of $11,040 was awarded.

A sub grant in the amount of $15,000 was donated to Cardinal Local Schools for the purchase of 50 Chrome Books for the elementary school.

Zoning Inspector Paul Tucker received equipment for remote access to conduct his work at home.

Five electrostatic sprayers were purchased along with cleaning solution. One was for the fire station, three for Huntsburg buildings and one was donated to Ohlman Family Living at Blossom to combat the outbreak of Covid19 the facility experienced.

All buildings received air purification units on the HVAC systems that combat viruses, bacteria and mold. New furnaces with air conditioning were installed in the town hall and a new air conditioner for the Huntsburg Community Center was installed. The community center carpet has been removed and LVT has been installed in the banquet room.

All buildings are in the process of being retrofitted for touchless lights, faucets, toilets, paper towel dispensers and hand sanitation dispensers.

Safety equipment (PPE) was purchased for employees and the fire station. Additional cleaning supplies were purchased to combat viruses.

Trustees and staff have been working hard to keep buildings open per CDC guidelines. Trustee Hunter painted the banquet and storage rooms. Trustee Saunders and Fiscal Officer Saunders have been cleaning when and where assistance is needed. Trustee Sutter has also assisted with needed repairs.

The township received grant funds from Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste District, which covered the cost of the township’s tire recycling and trash day in September. The grants totaled $2,930, with $1,080 being allocated to the tire grant and $1,850 to Go Green Community Grant for fall cleanup.

Road Department

Residents are responsible for keeping their drive pipes clean and free of debris. Please clean out pipes to keep the ditches flowing. Call and report any serious road problem, flooding on roads, fallen limbs or other hazard the township should be aware of. Residents may leave a message at 440-636-5486, option 1.

Zoning

Zoning Inspector Paul Tucker is available by appointment for zoning permits, exemptions, conditional use permits and variances. He may be reached by calling the township offices at 440-636-5486, ext. 3.  Please leave a message and he will return the call.

Zoning permits are required for all building projects, even agricultural buildings. Some may be exempt from fees, but still require an application submission. The township does not know what one is constructing if an application is not submitted.

Zoning permit applications are available in the town hall foyer.

Spring Cleanup, Tire Recycling

Huntsburg Spring Cleanup and Tire Recycling Day for Huntsburg residents only is scheduled for June 12 from 8:30-11 a.m. The date is subject to change depending on state mandates.
