Dont Ignore the Evil

This letter is to inform the Geauga community of an organization that has recently moved into the offices of Dr. Mark Roods South Russell Family Practice. The group is Family Planning Association of North East Ohio (FPANEO).

While some of the services they offer have value, there are other services that are troubling and, in the opinion of our organization and other allied churches, both Catholic and Protestant, are not consistent with the prevailing values of the Geauga County community.

FPANEO refers women for surgical abortions at the abortion mills located in Cuyahoga County and from their website (www.fpaneo.org) do so as late as 26 weeks gestation.

As you may know, babies now survive birth as early as 22-23 weeks. Instead of calling these cases abortion, it is more rightly called infanticide.

Additionally, solid scientific research now links abortion to an increase of breast and several other cancers in women. According to the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute (www.bcp

institute.org/brochure), The single most avoidable risk cancer for breast cancer is elective abortion.

FPANEO provides hormonal chem-icals to women. These are potentially abortifacient in nature causing life in its early stages to starve due to its inability to implant in the uterine wall made hostile to life because of the chemicals. These chemicals are linked to increased cancers in women. The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies hormonal contraceptives as Class 1 Carcinogens sharing this Class with asbestos, benzene, formaldehyde, X and Gamma Rays and tobacco smoke among many others.

FPANEO provides condoms to boys from age 13 and hormonal birth control to same aged girls without parental consent. FPANEO Director Mary Wynne-Peaspanen defended this service in news weekly by stating, it would be irresponsible and unethical of us to withhold services from these patients.

HELPs position is that it is both irresponsible and unethical for any third party to arrogantly presume themselves to have knowledge superior to that of a parent, to insert themselves into the family relationship between a parent and child and to do so surreptitiously without regard to the rights of parents.

Should any organization be dispensing Class 1 carcinogens to otherwise healthy young girls and condoms to boys with or without parental knowledge?

The first law of moral conduct is to do good and avoid/resist evil. We should never justify doing evil to accomplish good. Infanticide is evil. Increasing cancer risk for young girls and women is evil. Destroying the family, the basic unit of our society, is evil.

FPANEO does all three of these but would ask to us to Look at the good we do and ignore the evil. This is a questionable principle on which to operate and such an organization has no place in Geauga or in a civilized nation.

FPANEO has led a nomadic existence in Geauga over the past four years. They have had offices in Middlefield, Chardon and Munson, each time moving on as their neighbors became aware of their true nature.

We ask that Geauga citizens make known their objection to FPANEOs latest effort to bring about that same eventuality in South Russell.

Lying and Misleading

I watched the video paid for by the New York City Mayor Bloomberg pertaining to gun control. It speaks of background checks and mentions the mentally ill not being able to get their hand on firearms.

None of the bills introduced have anything to do with background checks for the mentally ill. This is intentionally misleading the public and what is in the bills that are being introduced. Maybe the true character is coming through of the person who is paying for the video, the mayor of New York, Mayor Bloomberg.

In my opinion, it shows his true character lying and misleading the public. Is this the best we can do for elected officials?

When background checks were initiated years ago, the NRA wanted the mentally ill tracked at that time, so that when a background check was run it would show a person to be mentally ill, but since medical records are supposedly private that was not part of the background check.

Elected officials decided not to include it as part of the background check.

I do not support any of the bills pertaining to gun control that is presently being introduced.

Samide Not Opposed

Regarding Mary Samides letter to the editor last week, she says that she is opposed to the retire-rehire concept, but in reality she has voted for retire-rehire many times.

For instance, she recently voted to rehire Bernadette Gliha, who is married to county auditor Frank Gliha.

She also says commissioners have to be careful not to discriminate, but in fact they can set their own requirements as long as they are not related to age or race and can hire and fire without giving a reason.

Ralph Spidalieri, the new com-missioner, was the one who suggested the county should have a policy of some kind regarding retire-rehire. Ralph is doing the job voters elected him to do; namely, to carefully consider each and every expenditure and not just rubber-stamp whatever the various department heads want.

Commissioners have been entrusted by the taxpayers to supervise the many county departments to make sure they are run in the most efficient way possible by the best possible people.

Toward this end, if Ms. Samide is serious about the taxpayers best interest, she should see to it that all departments are audited so the commissioners can begin to eliminate the waste that is endemic to all government entities.
