With Heartfelt Sympathy
Deepest sympathy to family and friends of Ferdinand “Ferdl” Aster, of Chester Township, who passed away Jan. 19, 2016. Ferdl was the original proprietor and operator of the beautiful Alpine Valley Ski Area on Mayfield Road in Munson Township, which is still in operation. He was an expert skier and ski instructor.
He will be missed by all who knew him. The family requests memorial donations in his name to the Chesterland Historical Society, P.O. Box 513, Chesterland, OH 44026.

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin senior Grey Wilson has been nominated for appointments to the United States Merchant Marine Academy and the United States Naval Academy. He has already received his U.S. Merchant Marine appointment and is awaiting word from the U.S. Naval Academy.

Munson’s Indoor Flea Market
Table rental space has been entirely sold out for the very popular Munson Township Indoor Flea Market to be held March 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Munson Township Hall and Fire Station, 12210 Auburn Road. The event is free and open to all ages with fun and something for everyone.
At the Senior Center
The library at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson, will hold “Library Lobby Stops” Feb. 10 and 24 from 11-11:45 a.m. Large print books are available as well as assorted books to borrow.
Also, at the Chardon Senior Center, on Feb. 17, from 1-2 p.m., Bob Davis will speak and advise on “Senior Scam Awareness.”

Tri-County Coin Club
The Tri-County Coin Club will meet at 6:45 p.m. Feb. 11 at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson. There will be coin displays, plus-lot coin auction and more.

Historic Tidbit
The Boy Scouts Organization was founded Feb. 8, 1910, in England by Sir Robert Baden-Powell. The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated in the United States the same year having originally been known as “The Sons of Daniel Boone.”
Starting with Cub Scouts, there are several levels of scouting that lead to the highest rank in scouting, that of Eagle Scout, which is celebrated with a Court of Honor.
