Nights Out in the Parks
The park district will celebrate America 250 this summer with special movie and music programs during its Nights Out in the Parks series.
At Observatory Park, 10610 Clay St., Montville Township, free outdoor movie nights will feature films with Ohio connections. “Finding Nemo,” followed by the documentary “Ohio: Wild at Heart,” will be shown June 13. “Superman” will be shown on July 11. Activities begin at 6 p.m., with movies starting at 7 p.m. Bring blankets, chairs, snacks, water and bug spray.
Live music nights in the outdoor amphitheater behind Big Creek Park, 9160 Robinson Road, Chardon Township, will feature American music. Performers include Guys Without Ties on June 20, Bent String Band on July 25 and Big North Band on Aug. 8. Concerts are from 7-8:30 p.m. In case of inclement weather, shows will move indoors.
Nature Journaling
June 14 and 15
The park district’s monthly Nature Journaling series combines observation, writing, sketching and optional photography to help participants explore the outdoors with fresh eyes.
Registration is currently open for “Life in a Riffle” at Sunnybrook Preserve.
Upcoming sessions also include “Cicadas” on July 12 and 13, “Page Layouts” on Aug. 9 and 10 and “Kayak Experience” on Sept. 13 and 14, with registration opening June 20 for Geauga County residents at 10 a.m. And a special Nature Journaling for Families program for families with children ages 9 and up will be offered Aug. 20 at Claridon Woodlands. Registration is required for all by phone.

Vendor Space Available
July 11, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Vendor space is still available at the 18th annual Geauga County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman’s Council’s benefit flea market being held in the picnic shelter area of The West Woods in Russell Township.
Vendor spaces are available for $25 for two parking spaces or $15 for a picnic table inside the shelter.
All vendor fees benefit the Geauga OHC and its Bridle Trail Fund, administered by the Foundation for Geauga Parks on behalf of the organization.
