Good Tidings Benefit Choir

The Good Tidings Benefit Choir welcomes anyone 14 years and older to join the practices held every Sunday from

2-4 p.m. for the Dec. 6 and 7 concerts to be held at Notre Dame Provincial Chapel, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson. There are no auditions.

#1 Dog Contest

Geauga County Auditor Frank J. Gliha will again be awarding the #1 dog license for 2015 to the winner of the “Why My Dog is #1” essay contest.

The contest is open to all fourth and fifth graders in Geauga County.

Students are encouraged to write a short essay to be sent to the Geauga County Auditor’s Office, 231 Main St., Suite 1-A, Chardon, OH 44024, no later than Nov. 3. The award event will be Dec. 2.

GSWCD 70th Anniversary

The Geauga Soil & Water Conservation District will celebrate its 70th anniversary in conservation with a dinner and Board of Supervisors election at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Geauga County Fairgrounds School Building in Burton. Candidates for the board are Munsonites Mary Slingluff and Bob Rogish.

Voting is open to all until 7 p.m. Ballots may also be obtained by visiting www.geaugaswcd.com.

Healthy Munson Initiative

The Healthy Munson Community Initiative will be held Oct. 21 from 5-8:30 p.m. at the Notre Dame Education Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Munson. There will be a health fair from 5-6:45 p.m. followed by keynote speaker, Dr. Michael Roizen, MD, Cleveland Clinic, Preventive Medicine.

Volunteers Needed

Munson Township residents are invited to submit letters of intent and resumes for vacancies on the park and recreation board and zoning commission no later than Nov. 3. These are non-compensated public service appointments.

The park and recreation board generally meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. and the zoning commission meets the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m.

Letters should be addressed to the Munson Township Trustees, 12210 Auburn Road, Chardon, OH 44024 or dropped off at the township office.

At the Senior Center

The Parkinson’s Support Group will meet at 11 a.m. Oct. 21 at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson, to view a DVD of “Dance for Parkinson’s at Home,” an internationally acclaimed dance program. Reservations are not necessary.

Seniors celebrating October birthdays are invited to the monthly birthday lunch on Oct. 22. Reservations are required at 440-279-2130.

A fun exercise program for all levels of fitness, Chair Zumba, will be taught by Vaia Gilchrist of Lake Health Oct. 23 from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Reservations are not required.

With the Arts

The 16th annual art show from Ravenwood Mental Health Center will open Oct. 23, from 4-6 p.m., at the Geauga Park District’s Big Creek Park, 9160 Robinson Road, Chardon Township. The display features work created during therapy groups at Ravenwood Mental Health Center in Munson.

Ghosts of the C&E Interurban with ghostly characters to entertain walkers on a guided tour will be held Oct. 24, from 7:30-9:30 p.m., at the Geauga Park District’s Rookery in Munson. Dress for the weather. Reservations are not required.
