Burn Permits
Munson residents can obtain burn permits for burning yard debris at the Munson Township Fire Station, 12200 Auburn Road. Permits are free, valid for 15 days and list safety guidelines. The station is open 24/7.
GPD Summer Camps
Registration is now open for the Geauga Park District’s 2015 Summer Camps in June, July and August at various GPD locations.
New this summer will be kayaking. Youths entering grades 5-7 and teens entering grades 8-10 are eligible.

At the Senior Center
Volunteers are needed to help in the reorganized library at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson. The library also seeks donations of books and magazines.
There is a section of large print books and a low-vision machine that magnifies text. All material is free to borrow, but please return. To volunteer to help, call 440-279-2130.
The Chardon Senior Center also offers free transportation to medical appointments within and out of Geauga County Monday through Friday. For more information, or to make an appointment, call 440-279-2134.
Tri-County Coin Club
The Tri-County Coin Club will meet May 14 at 6:45 p.m. at St. Luke Episcopal Church 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson. Following a short business meeting, there will be a 50-plus-lot coin auction, coin displays, door prizes and more.
The monthly meetings are free and open to all ages of coin collectors. Preregistration is not necessary.

Historic Tidbit
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 10. Anna Jarvis established the holiday in 1907 in Grafton, Va., with the help of John Wanamaker in honor of her mother who died May 9, 1905. After a small service was held in Grafton in honor of her mother, Anna went on to campaign for a Mother’s Day to be established as a national holiday, which on May 8, 1914, the U.S. Congress passed a law designating the first Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.
