Township Meetings

At Munson Township Hall: July 16, Board of Zoning Appeals, 6:30 p.m.; July 20, Zoning Commission, 7 p.m.; July 28, Board of Trustees, 6:30 p.m.

All township meetings are open to the public. There is a time slot on the trustees’ meeting agenda for Munson residents to speak, pro or con, on township matters. Meeting dates are subject to change and can be verified by visiting www.munsontwp.com or by calling the office, 440-286-9255.

Organization Meetings

At Munson Township Hall: July 16, Red Cross Blood Drive, 12-7 p.m.; July 18 & 19, Township Grounds Lease, Cleveland Clinic (Velo,Sano), 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; July 20 &27, Boy Scout Troop 91 (Breier), 6:30 p.m.

At Munson Park, Bass Lake Road: July 20-24, 27-31, Park Grounds, Chardon Sports Camp (Hazen, Robinson), 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

At Scenic River Retreat: July 26, Car Show (Vyse), 12-6 p.m.; July 26, Maple Hills Church Picnic (Hobbs), 4-9 p.m.

Knox Boxes

The Munson Fire Department offers the free installation of a “Knox Box,” which allows firemen easy access into a home of the elderly or disabled if unable to get to the door during an emergency.

At the Senior Center

Musicians are needed for the Good Times Band at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson. All levels of players are welcome to join the band every Wednesday from 12:30-2 p.m. Players from other senior centers are also welcome.

Brochures are available at the Chardon Senior Center with information regarding “A Branson Christmas,” scheduled for Nov. 7-15. The trip includes a Christmas show featuring the Osmond Brothers and Lennon Sisters.

NDCL Admissions Ambassadors

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, 13000 Auburn Road, Munson, is seeking current parents of students at NDCL schools (all grades) to share their NDCL experiences as admissions ambassadors with prospective parents and students. The meetings are fun and hours are few.

Food Addicts in Recovery

The next meeting of Food Addicts in Recovery (FAIR) will be held July 22 from 6:30-8 p.m. at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Munson. The weekly meetings are free and open to the public.

FAIR offers support, nutritional information and encouragement to those who want to lose weight and remain healthy. Preregistration is not necessary.

At Bass Lake Preserve

The Geauga Park District will have an afternoon of canoeing July 18 from 1:30-3 p.m. at Bass Lake Preserve Boat Launch, 11445 Lakeview Drive, Munson. Youth, ages 10 and up, must be accompanied by an adult. Basic proficiency in boating is required.

Foster/Adoptive Parents Needed

Geauga County Job and Family Services is seeking foster and adoptive parents for children needing homes in Geauga County. The number of children needing help and support is on the increase.

There will be a public information meeting July 27 at 6 p.m. at Geauga County Job & Family Services, 12480 Ravenwood Drive, Munson.
