Food Drive a Success

Newbury Elementary Student Council held its annual food drive in November. The school collected 1,037 cans of food that was delivered to Newbury United Community Church, which helped many families have a Thanksgiving dinner.

Mrs. Baker’s class collected the most cans. Her class chose Grace Copley to give Mrs. Tomassetti, the principal, a whipped cream pie to the face because she brought in the most cans in her class.

At the end of the day, the school celebrated all the thoughtfulness that students showed during the week with its first annual Turkey Bowl. Each class that brought in at least 50 cans was able to participate in a bowling tournament. Students rolled a big can to knock down canned goods.

Winter Concerts

Newbury schools will be hosting a variety of holiday music concerts in December. On Dec. 14, Newbury Elementary School will host its annual elementary holiday music concert. Students in grades K-3 will perform in the Newbury auditorium starting at 6 p.m. The fourth- and fifth-grade choirs and bands will perform in the auditorium at 7 p.m.

Newbury Middle/High School will host its winter choral concert on Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Those in attendance are encouraged to wear their tackiest holiday sweaters and attire to participate in the tacky sweater theme of this year’s concert.

All Newbury music concerts are free and open to the public.
