Nature Journaling 101
Learn basic journaling techniques by registering for programs in the park district’s Nature Journaling Series, exploring a different nature study topic each month.
Oct. 19 will feature the fall forest at Big Creek Park, Nov. 30 will feature woodpeckers at Claridon Woodlands, and Dec. 28 will feature the Christmas Bird Count and local winter feathered friends at Holbrook Hollows.
A one-time fee of $20 for Geauga County residents or $24 for out-of-county residents will cover the cost of program materials, including a journal, pen and colored pencils. Taking photos to include in the journaling is optional.

Fall At Observatory Park
Observatory Park in Montville Township is open daily 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. through Memorial Day, and “Astro-Nat” Chris Mentrek and other naturalist staff are eager to show guests around the International Dark Sky Park during the following programs this fall.
Before visiting, however, in light of the coronavirus, check the park district website for any new or different registration requirements.
Join for socially distant night sky viewing, with telescopes spaced out around the Park plaza, by registering for a one-hour time slot Nov. 28 or Dec. 12.
Learn what to watch for in the night sky during The Sky Tonight Planetarium Shows on Sundays, Oct. 25, Nov. 29 and Dec. 27. Register for one of four time slots on any given afternoon.
Additionally, the Geauga Skywatchers Club meets virtually Nov. 2 to discuss astrolabes. Registration is required at geaugalibrary.net.
